A lot of the dive gear I saw today
was sitting on tables, looking
pristine, doing nothing. Of course,
everything looks great on display
tables. One of the best ways to view
dive gear, though, is to see it in
action.
Today, as I cruised by DEMA's pool
-- which was filled with ridiculously
warm bathtub-warm water -- I was
treated to two different displays
concerning fins.
DEMA 2006: Dual Directional Water Channeling System in DEMA's Pool
|
The first fin I saw demo'ed was
featuring a "dual-directional water
channeling system." I got the
scoop on how the fins channel
water and reduce drag on the
upstroke, while providing extra
thrust on the downstroke.
The swimmer using the fins --
grinning joyously, below --
showed me how fast he could
swim with the fins. I was
especially surprised at how small
the fins are. As a result, these fins
might make great "travel fins."
